GOVERNMENT always in the way

Why does the Government want to make it illegal to talk on a cell phone in Georgia and other states?

Now it is is fine with me because I just use the speaker on my cell phone. I also use a set of those cheap ear buds and I am a happy man.

You have to remember that Cell phones and texting are different...I do not believe in texting when trying to drive some times I have down this and some times it is fine but more than too often I am off the road and have to bounce my car back on and that is no good.

You know the Government wants to have their hands in everything now days and cell phones no matter if you dislike them or not or a part of the American way. Who stops at a pay phone if you can find
one. So American's have become so inseparable from leaving home with out their phone. Put it this way it is a thing that has become almost mandatory to have who know what can happen in life and you need the cell phone in case of trouble are to make sure the wife and kids made it home safe. Plus cell phones are a business mans best friend.

All I am saying if you receive a text message and have to respond please pull over and reply stopped before going on. Be safe and thanks again...

The Birth of the Cell Phone

“RING, RING, WHO’S GOT THE PHONE, GET IT HURRY”

Remember those days when the telephone was something that was new and everyone wished they had one, all because they could talk to their neighbors and family members, life was crazy back then.

What about having a “Party-Line” are you old enough to remember that, I know I am, that was when I was growing up and sometimes when my mother wanted to use the phone, someone would be talking and we had to wait our turn, and sometimes it became annoying. I mean I still don’t understand why we had “Party-lines” there was NO PARTY involved in them at all.

Back then we had numbers with prefixes like ours was PR38390 or something like that.

There was no Free Long Distance, when you called out of State it cost you and the telephone company enjoyed adding it to your bills at the end of the month.

We never dreamed of having a phone to take with us, I mean that seemed crazy back in those early years of telephones. I do remember my Grandfather and Grandmother who were living in rural Kentucky had to crank the phone, and ask the operator to connect them to who ever they were calling, I got a kick out of watching my aunt crank that old phone, she cranked it at least 3 times before getting an operator.

The phone was something I could care less about as a youngster. I had better things to do, like feed the cows, the pigs, watch the chickens, count cars. Yes count cars, which became a game of ours. All us kids would sit on the front porch and as the cars went by we acted like that was our car, who knows what kind of car or truck would go by, but it was no fancy cars I can tell you that.

Then a telephone became standard and if you did not have something was wrong. I remember our first family phone it was “Heavy, and BLACK, it was as black as coal. I hated it, but I never used it that much other than to call a school friend or two, it was a rotary dialing system, and you had better remember the number are you would get a wrong number and that was not good.

Then the telephone company got smart and started putting out phones in different colors, which made the ladies so happy, now they could have a phone the color that they liked, plus some went so far as to have a phone of the color of the room to coordinate it.

Later BellSouth introduced a phone that every little girl wanted it was called “The Princess Phone” and it was shaped like a shoe, or slipper. It was mostly found in pink, so all the young girls needed it. They sold lots of Princess Phones, but no young man would be caught dead on one, we wanted a masculine phone, something heavy and if it had color we liked it better.

Life in the 90’s became something out of star wars, I mean here we are with a phone we can carry around, talk on, needs no wires, and is small and compact. A phone that we can use no matter where we are at, no matter what State and calling long distance is free, did you hear me FREE. (Really not free, because it comes free in your package plan).

But who cares, it’s the idea of being able to call lets say California and talk for hours, and not be charged like you were back in the old days of telephones.

Now days, it is hard to find a Pay Phone, because everyone you know if the kids have their own cell phone. This is a dream come true, being able to communicate anytime from almost anywhere.

The cell phone as loosened the way people communicate, working you never have to run back to the office to make a call, now days you reach down and pull out your cell phone make the call and go right back to work. It has made life easier, and we should be thankful.

This invention was created back in 1974 by Martin Cooper, who had a brick of a phone in those days and really only the wealthiest people could afford one.

Let’s take it slow, when Martin Cooper invented the mobile phone 35 years ago, he envisioned a world with so wedded to wireless connections that they would wall around with devices embedded in their bodies.

But while phones have come a long way since the former Motorola researcher made the first ever wireless call from a busy New York street corner in April 1973, Cooper says the industry has fallen short of his expectations.

“Our dream was that someday nobody would talk on a wired telephone. Everybody would talk on a wireless phone” the 79 year old electronic engineer said

Later Cooper said he was so enthused after h is first mobile call that he liked to joke that phone numbers would become so important that “when you were born you would get a phone number and if you didn’t answer it you would die”

Could Martin Cooper realized what he had created, I mean there are now more than 3 billion people owning cell phones now compared with 300,000 in 1984.

The funny thing was that people stood and stared as this man used the first mobile phone standing at 56 Street and Lexington Avenue on April 3, 1973.

Now almost everyone in the United States owns a cell phone, and is talking on it so much that the police and law enforcement divitions have decieded to make it a law, that if you are caught using a cell phone while driving you will get a ticket and pay a heafty fine. Can this happen or what?

You be the judge, please let me know what you think.

Thanks,
